Hi, Kyoko Ono is my birth name. KQ Six is my artist signature. I am based in Denver, Colorado and spend a lot of time in New York City, New York. I work in ceramics and photography.

CERAMICS

A recent medium for me. For the last three years, I studied clay at The Arts Student League of Denver. Janey Skeer is my teacher and mentor. Additionally, I took classes from Jonathan Kaplan, Shelly Schrieber, Jeff Wentzel, and Dean Goss. From June to December 2015, I studied at The Peter Durst Studio.

Some of the artists who influence my ceramic work are Akiyama Yo, Shino Takeda, Virginia Scotchie, Yayoi Kusama, Kiki Smith, and James Turrell.

PHOTOGRAPHY

Received my first camera, a Polaroid, when I was 6. Since then I have used a variety—Kodak, Canon, Nikon, Hasselblad, and Leica to name some. Both film and digital. Studied under Editha Messina at NYU. Taught darkroom work at The Denver Darkroom under Stan Lawder.

Some artists who influence my photography are Odilon Redon, Marc Chagall, Julia Margaret Cameron, and Cindy Sherman
